Nanimarquina’s New Collections Explore Technology and Seating

If you can’t find it, invent it. That’s what Nani Marquina did. After studying industrial design and supplying textile patterns to various companies, she recognized a void in her native Spain for modern rugs. Girding her adventurous sprit, she founded Nanimarquina in 1987 with updated aesthetics, but ancient processes. “Early on, we made the decision to focus solely on artisan techniques,” she says. The brand quickly diversified, from the graphic punch of Dots, introduced in 2000, to the folkloric intrigue of Kala, a hand-tufted wool family from 2008 based on drawings by Indian schoolchildren.
