PATRICK DOUGHERTY’S STICKWORK

North Carolina-based organic sculptor Patrick Dougherty creates whimsical installations out of branches, tree saplings and sticks.

The architectural sculptures, made using primitive building techniques and methods, are meant to break down over time and interact with their surrounding environments.

Each project takes around a month to erect and Patrick usually works with a team of volunteers to create the large nest-like structures. Every build is unique and works with natural materials.

Over the past 30 years, Patrick and his teams have constructed over 250 pieces around the world.
